The latest transmission fluid (Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF HP, part number 19417577, blue stripe on the bottle and not black) that actually fixes the problem came out in Jan 2019 as part of TSB 18-NA-355, so unless your A8 was flushed with this specific fluid, it can develop the shudder. FYI, if paying out of pocket for this it is 3 hours of labor versus the 1.6 in the bulletin. It took every bit of those 3 hours. I watched. They could not get the pco-scop to register a high enough vibration so they would not warranty the repair.
